8/8/2024 – Rice – What little rice I have this year was planted extremely late and it’s just now at mid-
season. As you can expect with late rice and dry conditions weed control is not as good as early rice.
Soybeans – Anywhere from R2 to being desiccated now. Quite a few beans between R5-R6. Insects
have been sporadic this year at home . Little more consistent in the south delta due to spotty planting
and later crop from all the early rains. Most late May beans were treated for podworms.
Corn – Reached black layer a couple weeks ago. Harvest should start soon. Optimistic about yields.
